Golden, George William, Jr. (Cleveland)

George William Golden, Jr., 84, departed this life on Wednesday, June 3, 2020.  He was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, a member of Goodsprings Baptist Church, and retired from Yellow Freight after 20 plus years of service.  He loved his church, and spending time with his family and was an avid Tennessee fan.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lura Lee Haney Golden; wife, Flo Golden; sisters, Bobbie Golden and Anna Ruth Natter; brothers-in-law, Raymond Creasman, Sam Creasman and Buddy Parsons; and sister-in-law, Janice Creasman.

He is survived by two children, Cindy (Rick) Clark, of Etowah and Greg (Jill) Golden, of Knoxville; four grandchildren, Ryan Wilson, Melisa (Anthony) Couey, Wayne (Natalie) Golden and Grant Golden; six great- grandchildren, Hayden Wilson, Elizabeth Wilson, Isaac Golden, Judah Golden, Reid Couey and Emmarae Couey; one sister, Mae (Jack) Burns, of Etowah; four sisters-in-law, Jean (Jack) McDaniel, of Etowah, Vivian Trotter, of Etowah, Faye Parsons, of Etowah and Lora Creasman, of West Virginia; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6 at Goodsprings Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor David Lones officiating.

There will be no formal visitation.
