Chester residents have been warned to look out for a new charity collection scam.

Chester police have received several reports of a person going door to door claiming to be part of the RSPCA in the Great Boughton area.

They have been attempting to sell raffle tickets saying it is for a charity collection. This is a scam.

Police are asking people to share this information with friends and family, as the scammers may move to other areas.

In a post on Facebook, Chester police warned residents: "We have had several reports of a person/s posing as RSPCA charity collectors in the Great Boughton area.

"They have been attempting to sell raffle tickets- this is a scam!

"The person/s in question may attempt to sell in other areas so please report to 101 if they visit your address.

"Please share this information with family and friends who may not have access to social media."

Anyone who believes they are a victim of a scam should contact Action Fraud.
