The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the only Cheshire trust to report new deaths linked to coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

The Chester-based hospital has reported that three more patients have sadly died after testing positive for Covid-19.

That brings the total number of patients who have died at the Countess and Ellesmere Port Hospital to 164.

There have been no new deaths at any other of the NHS trusts in Cheshire.

This is compared with the six hospital deaths which were reported yesterday.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford has to date reported 166 hospital deaths due to coronavirus.

East Cheshire NHS Trust, which runs Congleton War Memorial Hospital, Knutsford and District Community Hospital and Macclesfield District General Hospital, has now reported 111 deaths.

Meanwhile the coronavirus death toll at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust stands at 115.

In England there have been a further 147 hospital deaths.

The total number of hospital patients who have died in England after testing positive for coronavirus is 25,692.
