An emergency service presence was seen in Chester earlier this afternoon (May 15) following a report of two teenage girls having fallen in the River Dee.

Firefighters from Ellesmere Port and Powey Lane, police officers and paramedics rushed to the scene on Curzon Park North in Curzon Park, near Chester Golf Club, just after 2.15pm.

However, the two teenage girls were able to get out by themselves.

They were checked over by paramedics and taken to hospital as a precaution.

A spokeswoman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Just after 2.15pm on Friday 15 May emergency services attended the riverside in Curzon Park in Curzon Park North.

"It was reported that two teenage girls had fallen in the river and couldn’t get out, however the girls got out by themselves and were checked over by ambulance.

"They were then taken to hospital as a precaution."
