The RSPCA has issued a plea to help them find the perfect home for a poorly rabbit.

Bobby the bunny is a seven-year-old lop eared rabbit who came into the RSPCA Cheshire Altrincham branch via an RSPCA inspector.

After being neglected by his owners Bobby was left with a long list of medical problems.

Miraculously the brave bunny has overcome many of his problems, and is now looking for someone to offer him a second chance.

Bobby had a blocked tear duct and as a result was prone to eye infections, which had been left untreated leaving his face extremely sore and infected.

The seven-year-old lop was also crawling with lice and fleas when he was rescued, requiring immediate treatment.

He also had sore bald spots and a big patch along his back of very thin fur.

Branch manager Nicola Raven said: "We are so happy to say that after some TLC, Bobby is now ready to find his forever home.

"He was such a poorly boy when he came in to us and had large patches of fur missing.

"He is now going through a moult and his fur is growing back brilliantly.

"He may always have slightly dandruffy skin but he loves a good scratch and a groom and this really helps."

Due to his age, Bobby has some medical problems which his new owners will need to keep treating.

Nicola said: "As Bobby is an older boy the signs of aging are starting to show. He has spinal arthritis and will need to remain on anti-inflammatories for the rest of his life.

"We think this arthritis might the reason he had such waxy and infected ears when he came in to us - as due to his lack of mobility he was unable to clean himself properly.

"His new owner will need to help him by cleaning his ears regularly, also hopefully when he is bonded with another rabbit the new rabbit should help with this grooming."

Bobby, the seven-year-old lop eared rabbit, arrived at the RSPCA Cheshire Altrincham with a long list of medical problems

The perfect home for Bobby would allow him to hop around indoors as a house rabbit.

Nicola said: "He would ideally love to live as a house rabbit - he is immaculately litter trained and would make somebody a lovely pet, although there will need to be an understanding that he will have some ongoing medical issues."

The RSPCA explained that Bobby is neutered, fully vaccinated against myxomatosis vhd1 and vhd2 and is microchipped.
