There is queuing traffic on the M56 near Frodsham this afternoon (Friday, March 22) following a crash shut one lane.

Lane three (of three) was closed until around 4.50pm following the accident, resulting in heavy traffic.

The westbound carriageway between junction 12 and junction 14 is affected.

Motorists should add an extra 25 minutes to their journey time, travel monitoring site Inrix reports.

All lanes have now been reopened.

An entry on Inrix reads: "Queueing traffic due to earlier accident on M56 Westbound from J12 A557 (Runcorn) to J14 A5117 (Hapsford). Travel time is around 20 to 25 minutes. All lanes have been re-opened.

"Lane three (of three) was closed until around 15:50"
