A Chester restaurant has been ranked second in the UK's top 50 restaurants.

Leading restaurant booking service OpenTable has announced its 2019 Top 50 Fit for Foodies restaurants in the UK which annually showcases the top 50 restaurants that are reflected by reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners at over 7,600 restaurants.

And in the latest in a string of accolades, Chester's Chef's Table in Music Hall Passage is in second place behind Carters of Moseley in Birmingham.

The open-plan, independent eatery which has an ever-changing seasonal menu has won dozens of awards in the past and is regularly rated as one of Chester's top three venues on TripAdvisor with a five star rating.

Tom Hughes, co-owner of Chef's Table said: "Having won this award twice before, in 2015 and 2018, at the National Restaurant Awards, we're made up to be recognised again. What means the most to the team here at Chef's Table is that this award is voted for by real people that have actually eaten in our restaurant and left a review on Open Table, not chosen by a panel of judges.

"We get such a kick from delighting and amazing our customers, and our customers have spoken! We're also very pleased to see four North West independent restaurants in the top ten. The region is getting more and more recognition for its innovative and cutting edge cuisine. We're very proud to be part of it."
