A Chester tearoom located in one of the city's busiest thoroughfares is up for sale - weeks after it closed suddenly.

Towers Tearoom on Bell Tower Walk closed last month for unknown reasons and deleted its social media pages, leaving the premises vacant.

It had taken over Beatons Tearoom last year, which has been operating as a lunch spot and bookshop for customers since the summer of 2015.

Now the 3,160 sq ft building, which overlooks the stunning gardens of Chester Cathedral, is being advertised on property website Realla for a rental price of £30,000 a year.

According to the description of the premises by commercial property experts Bolton Birch, the building is currently arranged over two floors, occupying a corner location with extensive frontage looking towards the cathedral and Bell Tower Walk Square, but division into two trading units would be considered.

The premises includes fitted kitchens and toilets, with the opportunity of utilising a balcony area, although this would be subject to further negotiations.

CheshireLive attempted to contact Towers tearoom to ask why it had closed but did not receive a response.
