Molton Brown have confirmed the permanent closure of their Chester city centre store.

The luxury bath and body retailer which has a branch on Northgate Street closed at the start of lockdown in March, and then a sign was put up in the shop's window two weeks ago saying they had closed.

Now a spokesperson for the company has confirmed that the store will remain closed even after restrictions are lifted because the lease on the premises has expired.

In a statement sent to Cheshire Live, they said: "Unfortunately the sign is correct and the Chester store is indeed closing.

"The lease has unfortunately ended on the store.

"Not to worry!! We are actively looking for another location in Chester for when the current restrictions are lifted and our stores are able to reopen."

The sign states that customers can visit their Liverpool One store in the future, although there has been no confirmation that the nearby Cheshire Oaks store is to close.
