FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire at a flat in Victoria Road, Chester.

Just after 8.30pm yesterday (Sunday, December 9) crews from the city fire station were called to reports of a chimney fire at a residential address.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire & Rescue said: "Crews attended the scene and used a thermal imaging camera to examine the chimney breast in the fire floor flat.

"After finding the seat of the fire, crews used specialist chimney rods and a chimney hose to extinguish the fire.

"The then re-checked the chimney breast with the thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire had been extinguished.

"Crews were detained at the scene for approximately two hours."
