AN EVENTS organiser from Chester crashed her car after drinking three times the legal drink-drive limit of alcohol.

Kinsay Seedle, 26, who works at Bar Lounge in the city, had been out with work friends on December 22 last year after learning that a colleague had sadly passed away.

Chester Magistrates Court heard that several witnesses had heard a loud bang as her silver Toyota Yaris crashed on Sealand Road at around 11.30pm.

Rob Youds, prosecuting, said the men had walked towards the car and then heard the engine revving.

“They thought it was trying to drive off but couldn’t because of the damage,” he said.

The bumper and headlight were said to be hanging off the car, which also had substantial damage to a wheel.

One of the witnesses took the keys from the ignition and they called the police after noticing the defendant was slurring her words.

Seedle, of Phillip Street, Hoole, was arrested and later recorded 240 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood – three times the legal limit of 80.

“She said she’d been to work and found out a colleague had passed away,” Mr Youds said. “Their boss took them out and she’d had two glasses of wine.”

Defending herself, an emotional Seedle said: “I’ve never regretted anything more in my life. I just got carried away with the death of my colleague and being caught up with everything and I completely regret what I did.”

She has no previous convictions and usually only drinks socially, the court heard.

Magistrates handed her a 12-month community order, to include 100 hours of unpaid work, and banned her from driving for two years.

Chair of the bench Andrew Merrill told her: “The situation you found yourself in with the bereavement, we have sympathy for you. However, you did what you did and you have to pay the consequences.”

Seedle must also pay £85 prosecution costs and a victim surcharge of the same amount.
