A 47-year-old man was injured after someone he met online attacked him with a hammer Friday night in the Lakeview East neighborhood, authorities said.

Two males connected through a dating app and agreed to hang out inside a residence in the 600 block of West Aldine Avenue, where they began arguing, according to Chicago police.

About 6:30 p.m., one of them bashed a hammer into the other person’s head multiple times. The man struck, 47, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, police said.

Police said the 47-year-old declined to press charges, and no one was in custody.
