A 32-year old Kankakee man was killed and another remained hospitalized Sunday in stable condition after a single car crash Saturday on the southeast side of Aurora, authorities said.

Aurora police were dispatched at 3 p.m. to Pearl Street and Sherman Avenue where they found a car had lost control and struck a large tree in the front yard of a residence.

Gus Bester of the 1900 block of Oak Street was a passenger of the 1987 Buick who was pinned inside and had to be extricated from the vehicle, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 29-year old Aurora man, was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the car was traveling eastbound on Sherman Avenue when it left the roadway and struck the tree. Members of the Aurora Police Department Traffic Division are investigating.
