Freshers week is now behind us and thousands of new students are getting ready to start their degrees in the cities universities.
Now that the freshers fun is over, it's time for them to explore Newcastle and take part in everything that the city has to offer.
And to help them experience Geordie culture at it's best, here are 20 things you must do whilst studying in Newcastle.
1. Go watch a Newcastle United game
Geordies are well known for their love of football. Being in the Premier League, no matter what the result, the atmosphere at St James' Park will have you on the edge of your seat.
2. Have a drink at The Holy Hobo
Why not visit one of Newcastle's most popular quirky bars? It hosts a resident DJ every Friday and Saturday night and even a mid-week quiz on Wednesday evening. It is located on Archbold Terrace in Jesmond, so get yourself down there.
3. Go to see some live music
Newcastle is home to The Utilita Arena (formerly the Metro Radio Arena) and the O2 Academy, both incredible arenas that host renowned artists from all around the world.
4. Have a day at the coast
Even though it seems like the warm weather is now behind us, the beaches at South Shields, Tynemouth and North Shields are definitely worth mentioning - and they are only a metro journey away!
5. Go for a few pints on Osborne Road
Osborne Road is the go-to for most students in the central/Jesmond area. The street is full of bars such as Osbornes, Spy Bar and Bar Blanc - great for when you want to get together with your friends for a few pints - especially on a bank holiday and £2 Tuesday.
6. Go shopping down Northumberland Street
If you've moved to Newcastle over the past few weeks you're probably familiar with the most popular shopping street in the city. Home to a wide range of different retailers and cafe's and access to Eldon Square shopping centre, if you haven't already had a around what are you waiting for?
7. Find a bargain at Grainger Market
Away from the high street modern retailers, Newcastle's famous Grainger Market is definitely worth a trip, whether you're after cheap chicken or cheap clothes, the market is home to over 100 independent businesses.
8. Have a game of Ghetto Golf
One of Newcastle's newest attractions, the 'crazier than crazy golf' course has been increasingly popular with the residents since opening it's doors a few months back. The course located in Byker has other attractions including a cocktail bar, regular DJ's and street food and burgers.
9. Have a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale
With a taste like no other, you've got to try a bottle of Newcastle's most treasured drink at least once.
10. Take a stroll through Jesmond Dene
Away from the city centre, Jesmond Dene is a peaceful woodland popular for picnics by the waterfall and calm woodland walks.
11. Go adventure at Ouseburn Valley
If you're into art - this might just be the place for you. Ouseburn Valley is home to The Biscuit Factory, the UK's largest independent contemporary art, craft and design gallery.
12. Take a wander down the Quayside
The Quayside is one of the most lively spots in the city - it's flooded with bars and restaurants as well as being home to the famous Tyne Bridge - it's great for a scenic stroll and grabbing a bite to eat!
13. Have a look at what's to offer at the Quayside market
The city's Quayside Sunday Market has been part of Geordie culture for as long as anyone can remember. From food stalls to leather goods, pop down and take a look at what the market has to offer.
14. Give yourself an adrenaline rush at Psycho Path's killer clown maze
Back open to the public on October 11th, last years sold out event is returning and reportedly more terrifying. Not for the fainthearted - if you're after a scare this Halloween, this is the right place for it. You can find it at Lintz Hall Farm at Burnopfield, Gateshead.
15. Take a drive to the Angel of the North
Being one of the North East's most iconic landmarks - taking a picnic and admiring The Angel of the North up close will prove to be a grand day out.
16. Head to Digital
Newcastle's biggest nightclub is often host to renowned DJs and events from all around the world. The 3 storey nightclub is not popular with students but the resident Geordies as well!
17. Get a ticket for Bongo's Bingo at the Boiler Shop
Bongo's Bingo at 20 South Street, has become one of Newcastle's most popular nightlife events. Get your ticket as soon for one of the few dates remaining in November and December as possible - they will soon be gone!
18. Admire art at the Baltic
Famous for it's quirky contemporary art and located alongside the Gateshead Millennium Bridge - if art is your thing, you can't miss out on visiting the UK's largest contemporary art institution.
19. Browse Fenwick's Christmas window
Christmas wouldn't be the same in Newcastle without Fenwicks renowned Christmas window. Open to view between the 2nd November to the 31st December, it's perfect for getting you in the Christmas spirit!

20. Go ice skating at the Centre for Life
Last but not least, prepare yourself for some winter fun at the Centre for Life's open air ice rink. The dates are still yet to be confirmed for 2019, but with the cold season upon us, it shouldn't be too long before the ice rink becomes open to the public.
