Anne-Marie Trevelyan made it a hat-trick of election victories when she held on to Berwick.

The Conservative MP was first elected in 2015 following the retirement of Liberal Democrat Sir Alan Beith.

She held of a challenge from Lib Dem Julie Porksen in 2017 and managed to extend her majority.

Elsewhere in the region her Conservative colleagues held Hexham and made gains in Sedgefield, North West Durham, Blyth Valley and Bishop Auckland.

Last time around , Anne-Marie Trevelyan held her Berwick seat with a huge increased majority following a turnout of 71.5%.

The accountant clinched 22,145 votes, an increase on the 16,603 she received in 2015.

The Lib Dems, who had previously held the seat for four decades, fell to second place in 2015 but at the last election collapsed to third place, behind Labour's Scott Dickinson.

Labour edged closer to the Tories gaining around 4,000 seats, rising from 6,042 in 2015 to 10,364 two years later.
