Police searching for missing Dean Mckenzie have found a body.

The 27-year-old from Gilesgate, near Durham City, has not been seen since 7am on Monday, May 27, when he left his girlfriend's home.

Dean's family issued a heartfelt appeal for help trace him with his sister Shannon saying his disappearance was "so out of character".

Today Durham Constabulary confirmed that a body was  found in woodland in the Sherburn Road area, last night. 

Officers say they do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A Durham Constabulary spokesman said: "We’re sorry to report a body has been found in the search for missing Durham man, Dean McKenzie.

"The body was found in woodland in the Sherburn Road area of Durham at around 5.35pm last night (June 5).

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
