A father-of-three killed while riding his beloved motorbike will be “much missed” by all who knew him.

Police this week named a man who died in a motorcycle crash near Jedburgh as Hexham man John Dent.

Former marine engineer John had been riding his Triumph Thruxton motorbike on the A68 near the Scottish border town on the afternoon of Sunday, July 8.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, after a collision with an Audi A6.

John’s family have paid tribute to the loving family man.

They said: “John was a much loved husband and father to his wife and three daughters.

“John lived in the north east of England and was enjoying one of his favourite pastimes when he was sadly taken from us.”

John’s loved ones described his 30-year career in the Merchant Navy, working in Northern Scotland, and his love of adventure and the outdoors.

They said: “He was very much a family man, his other passions included his speed boat, water skiing, skiing and hiking with his dogs.

“We are very grateful for the support of family and his many friends and he is much missed by all of us.”

Officers from Police Scotland are continuing to investigate the collision and have asked anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the force on 101, quoting incident 3330 of July 8.
