A man has been charged with attempted murder after an alleged assault at a home in Amble.

Police were called to Queen Street in the Northumberland town at 2.30pm on Friday where a man had been allegedly assaulted inside a property.

A man was found with head and leg injuries which was believed to have been caused by a blade.

He was taken to hospital where he has been treated for his injuries.

Jamie Ralph Gray has since been arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a pointed article.

The 38-year-old, of no fixed address, is due to appear at South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 2.30pm on Friday, police received a report of an assault inside an address on Queen Street, Amble.

“Emergency services attended and found a man with head and leg injuries suspected to have been caused by a bladed article. He was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening at this time.

“An investigation was launched and a man was subsequently arrested. 

"The man, 38, has now been charged with attempted murder and possession of a pointed article. He is due to appear before magistrates in Bedlington today.”
