A teenage girl who was missing for more than 48 hours has now been found safe.

Katherine Patterson, 19, from Hexham, Northumberland, was reported missing after last being seen in the Walkergate area of Newcastle on the morning of Monday, September 9.

Police were urgently trying to trace her and were growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

She was believed to have been in the Albert Dock area of Liverpool on Wednesday afternoon.

An appeal was put out to the public in a bid to trace her but on Wednesday evening, officers confirmed she had been found.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police , said: "Officers searching for missing Hexham teenager Katherine Patterson can now confirm that she has been found safe."
