A huge part of Newcastle 's West Road has been closed following a suspected crash.
Around ten emergency service vehicles are currently at the scene, including police and paramedics .
Bus staff and onlookers claim a woman was knocked over.
Cars and buses are being diverted through the surrounding streets with massive traffic tailbacks forming.
Sirens can still be heard around the scene.
Northumbria Police officers were seen asking local businesses for CCTV footage.

Woman rushed to hospital after being hit by car on Newcastle's West Road
A woman has been taken to hospital after being knocked down by a car.
Police closed a large part of West Road in Newcastle as shocked onlookers rushed to the woman’s aid.
An ambulance took her to the Royal Victoria Infirmary on Sunday afternoon.
Police say her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The car involved has been removed from West Road
A white car, which looked like a Citroen, has been removed yards from the site on the incident.
Woman taken to Royal Victoria Infirmary
A North East Ambulance spokeswoman said:
“We received a call at 2.24pm to a person being hit by a car on West Road in Newcastle.
“We dispatched a double crewed ambulance, rapid response paramedic and a trauma paramedic to the scene.
“We transported one female patient to the RVI for treatment.”
West Road now reopened to traffic
Police have now confirmed that West Road is fully open again to traffic in both directions.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said:
“We were called out to a pedestrian road traffic collision at 2.30pm on West Road in Newcastle.
“A woman has sustained non-life threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital for further treatment.”

One trader, who was yards from the scene, said: “I was standing outside having a tab and the next thing I heard was a bang.
”I couldn’t see the woman at first but I went over and she was lying unconscious.
”The driver stopped straight away.”
One part of cordon has now been lifted
Police are overheard saying a closure nearer the city centre could be “coming off shortly”.
Still no word about the closure near the sports centre although two buses, including the number 39 has now been allowed to pass through the cordon
Local says someone has been hit by a bus
One local trader said: “I was just working then suddenly the bus stopped - I put my head out and saw the police.
”That was only about 20 mins ago.
“It is so sad to hear she’s been hit.”
