GACP and Joseph DaGrosa have registered companies as part of their proposed takeover of Newcastle United, according to reports.

Elsewhere, Paul Dummett insists he is ready to fight for his place in the starting eleven, and Papiss Cisse has reflected on his time on Tyneside.

Here are the biggest Newcastle United stories on Monday, October 14.

GACP takeover latest

GACP Sports and Joseph DaGrosa have reportedly taken another step in their proposed takeover of Newcastle United .

Working alongside former Chelsea and Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon, the US-based investment firm is believed to setup a fresh company out of Delaware.

Titled GACP Newcastle Investors (U.S.) the new company was formalised on October 8 and reportedly follows the establishment of GACP Newcastle Management (U.S) LLC and GACP Newcastle Partners (U.S) in the fortnight prior, according to the Shields Gazette .

In addition, the same title claims a firm called Newcastle Investors Ltd has been registered in the Cayman Islands, as the same company name has been reserved on the Isle of Jersey company register.

But what does this all mean for any prospective takeover of United?

Dummett ready to fight for his place

Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has welcomed the competition in the squad - and is determined to make sure he's ready for the battle for a first team place.

The Welsh international was replaced by Ciaran Clark for Newcastle's 1-0 win over Manchester United last weekend and, with Federico Fernandez and Florain Lejeune also vying for a role in the Magpies back three along side Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar , competition is strong.

"Competition in any team is a big thing to have and I was obviously disappointed not not to play but the main thing was the team put a good performance in," said United academy graduate Dummett.

"Especially after Leicester defeat - everyone on that pitch put on a good performance.

"I was gutted not play but Ciaran came into my position and did really well.

"So I know I just need keep on working hard and trying to make sure I'm ready for my chance when it comes again."

Cisse on THAT Chelsea goal

Former Newcastle forward Papiss Cisse believes his famous strike against Chelsea in 2012 has become his 'identity'.

The Senegalese forward scored one of the Premier League's most iconic goals in a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge in May 2012 that kept Newcastle's hopes of Champions League qualification alive.

Ryan Taylor's hopeful long throw was chested down by Shola Ameobi on the left touchline. It bounced into the path of Cisse who swept the ball with the outside of his right foot on the half-volley.

The ball initially looked like it was heading wide of the left post before swirling towards the right hand side of the goal, looping over a helpless Petr Cech.

Unsurprisingly, Cisse was awarded the Premier League's Goal of the Season award. It was the last of a catalogue of ridiculous strikes during his first four months at the club as he scored 13 goals in his first 12 games.

There was his debut strike against Aston Villa, his looped effort over Michel Vorm away at Swansea and it is easy to forget his first goal against Chelsea that night was also a superb strike on the volley.

Now playing in Turkey with Alanyaspor, the 34-year-old spoke to the Athletic about that Chelsea goal - a goal he feels now defines his time at Newcastle.

Attendance stats

Disillusioned Newcastle United fans appear to be turning their backs on St James’ Park in their thousands this season, attendance figures show.

Against a backdrop of calls to boycott and discontent about the departure of Rafa Benitez , an average of 46,577 people have attended the Magpies’ home league games so far this season according to worldfootbal.net.

That’s down from an average of 51,121 last season and 51,992 in 2017/18.

In fact, Newcastle drew bigger average crowds when they were in the Championship - 51,106 in 2016/17.

It means that St James’ Park has only been 89% full on average this season.

No other Premier League club is operating at such a low percentage of capacity.

Sutton slams Almiron

Former Celtic and Blackburn forward Chris Sutton has blasted Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron for his diving antics this season.

The 25-year-old was booked against Manchester United for simulation last Sunday and then was sent off for Paraguay against Serbia on Thursday after picking up a second booking for a dive.

Twice in the space of five days, the former Atlanta United man has been reprimanded for diving and it isn't unfair to suggest that he will be gaining a reputation among Premier League officials.

Almiron has impressed both Rafa Benitez and Steve Bruce at Newcastle but the fact he is yet to score a goal since joining in a club record deal in January is a cause for concern.
