Michael Chopra has hit back at Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce after the Magpies boss accused him spreading 'lies' about his side.
Former Newcastle striker Chopra claimed that senior figures in the dressing room told him 'some of the players don't know their jobs' under Bruce .
The new United manager hit back in his Press conference ahead of Sunday's clash with Spurs, insisting the claims were 'absolute lies'.
But Chopra has taken to social media to retaliate, claiming the evidence on the pitch backs up his claims.
Chopra tweeted: "After reading SB (Steve Bruce) comments about me I would just like to make him aware that I have played more than 20 times and scored on more than one occasion for my boyhood club, so now HE is now telling lies.
"Also the so-called tactics you are working on seem to be working according to the stats.
"I’m a lifelong football fan of my boyhood club which makes it my right to have an opinion along with the rest of the Geordies out there!
The post came in response to Bruce's comments on Friday, when asked why his players' mentality was apparently not quite right in the warm-up before the defeat to Norwich.
"If they've detected that they weren't right in the warm-up and then they've took that on to the pitch then, of course, that is a concern," Bruce said.
Newcastle United's build-up to Tottenham
Steve Bruce takes Newcastle United to the new Spurs stadium on Sunday hoping for a much-improved performance from last weekend's debacle at Norwich. Here's how he's looking to improve things after the Canaries rout.

"But if you’re insinuating that myself and the staff aren’t capable of taking a warm-up, then it’s difficult, and then when you all sensationalise the other stuff of somebody like Michael Chopra.
"I'm sorry but it's just totally wrong and lies basically. The whole thing is fabricated lies and unfortunately, it escalates where you think, 'Dear, oh dear. That is just totally ridiculous.' And this is the problem when you get people who just want to create nonsense, which, obviously, it was."
When asked if he had to speak to his players following the comments, Bruce said: "I don't even have to. Who does he know? It's absolute lies. Look, it's lies and you all know why he is on the radio.
"You all know why he is on the radio. Newcastle legend? Played 20 times for the club. Jesus! Give me some sort of credence. If it's Alan Shearer, yes, c'mon, bring it on."
