Sunderland are said to be close to agreeing a fee for the services of Freddie Ladapo from Plymouth and the fans of both clubs have reacted to the news.

Plymouth Live have reported that the two clubs are on the verge of agreeing on a fee of around £500K for the striker, though there is competition for his services from the likes of sides in the Championship and Scottish Premiership, with Portsmouth said to have almost agreed a fee as well.

Ladapo enjoyed a strong 2018/19 campaign despite Plymouth suffering relegation from League One. The 26-year-old striker bagged 26 goals for the Pilgrims and is now courting interest from around the UK.

But Sunderland are at the forefront of the race, something which has been hailed as great news by some fans of the club, with the forward's pace identified as his key attribute.

Meanwhile, these Sunderland fans have been wanting to sign Ladapo for quite a while.

Plymouth fans, on the other hand, have provided mixed views on whether they should keep Ladapo. They are, for the most part, not overly concerned with the potential of losing his services despite his goals tally from last season and some state that the reported fee is reasonably fair for both clubs.
