You've completed the world's biggest half marathon and deserve a big meal to replace the thousands of calories you've burned from Newcastle to South Shields.
Great North Runners looking for a celebratory meal are spoiled for choice in Newcastle city centre - just as they are for loading up on pasta the night before the half marathon race.
Here are 10 Newcastle restaurants you should try after the Great North Run – they won't break the bank either.
In no particular order...
1. Herb Garden
Arch 8 Westgate Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 1SA, England
0191 222 0491
You should never need an excuse for a top-class pizza, but finishing the Great North Run certainly means you deserve one.
Herb Garden's pizzas are a big hit in Newcastle, famed for their freshness, quality of ingredients and a wide choice including vegetarian and vegan options.
Rated 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor at the time of writing, you can find Herb Garden under a railway arch on the east end of Westgate Road. It's about two minutes away from Central Station by foot.
2. La Yuan
7-9 Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4SG, England
0191 432 4421
There are plenty of Chinese restaurants in Newcastle – we even have our own ' China Town '.
But La Yuan's USP is it offers something a little bit different. La Yuan specialises in Sichuan cuisine and has a much smaller menu than you'd find in a typical Chinese restaurant in England.
That, arguably, is a good thing, as each dish is well thought-out and is on the menu for a reason.
If you're stuck about what to order, ask the staff. They're happy to guide you and make recommendations based on flavours you enjoy.
3. French Quarter
Arch 6 Westgate Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 1SA, England
0191 222 0156
This informal dining restaurant specialises in tapas with a French twist.
Our reviewer absolutely loved French Quarter, saying: “The informal atmosphere combined with the high quality of its offering mean it would be perfect for a celebration - a place to treat yourselves to more good wine and satisfying food than you really need.”
4. Dabbawal (High Bridge)
69-75 High Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 6BX, England
0191 232 5133
There are two Dabbawals in Newcastle, but the High Bridge branch is the most central.
Dabbawal specialises in Indian street food. Like French Quarter, there's a tapas twist, with dishes you won't find at a standard curry house, although some time-honoured favourites are on the menu too. It's a great place for groups, especially if you like to try a few dishes and dig in together.
5. Kaltur
8 High Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne NE3 2HA, England
0191 447 4464
Ok, we've mentioned a lot of tapas twists, without actually mentioning a Spanish restaurant yet.
Kaltur has you covered if you're after Iberian small plates. It's even situated in a neat little alleyway.
As our reviewer wrote : "There’s a preponderance of perfectly serviceable but unremarkable tapas restaurants around these days. Kaltur is something a little different.
"Testing flavours, traditional delicacies, tiny portions of something which has been embalmed in salt and hung out in the sun for weeks: this is the tapas your mother warned you about."
6. Red Mezze
36 Leazes Park Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4PG, England
0191 261 9646
Hearty Turkish cuisine with lots of protein and carbs, just what you'll be crying out for after your big run.
Red Mezze is described as “an unassuming little gem” on one Tripadvisor review.
Load yourself up on mixed grills, flat breads and a tempting selection of sides.
Vegetarians praise the meat-free options too.
7. Mantra Thai Dining
29 Forth Banks Newcastle upon Tyne
0191 232 6080
A modern and stylish Thai restaurant, Mantra is just up from Newcastle's Quayside, close to many hotels and Central Station.
A recent five-star Tripadvisor review says: “Food was beautiful, tasty and well presented. Service was excellent. Extensive food and drink menus. Would definitely recommend.”
8. Simla Restaurant
39 Side Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne
07917 391319
This modern Indian restaurant was ranked seventh best restaurant in Newcastle at the time of writing.
Many reviews praise the lamb shank rogan josh, which is one of the chef's recommendations.
Others comment on the fresh flavours, attentive service and reasonable pricing.
With a five-star average review on Tripadvisor, Simla should satisfy your spice and rice fix.
9. Redhouse
32 Sandhill, Quayside, Newcastle
0191 731 7872
Some clichés about the north are unfair, but it's fair to say we do actually like pies. A lot.
Redhouse, in the Quayside, specialises in stomach filling pies, served with mash, peas and gravy.
It's inside a 700-year-old building too, with a lively atmosphere and well-stocked bars.
Get stuck in: it's Sunday, you're in the North East and you've just come back from legging it to South Shields.
10. St Sushi
89-93 Westgate Road, Newcastle upon Tyne
0191 221 0222
If Sushi's your thing, this Japanese restaurant had a 4.5 star average review on Tripadvisor, at the time of writing.
A reviewer who awarded St Sushi five stars wrote: “Excellent place to meet friends, Choice is unbelievable, cooked to perfection, very well looked after very down to earth kind of place."
Or you could try one of these eateries in South Shields if you don't want to wait to get to Newcastle to eat.
