Chapel, a puppy rescued from a freezing creek.

You could perhaps call it a holiday miracle.

After a small puppy (now named Chapel) was rescued from a freezing creek in Sadieville, Kentucky, on Tuesday, the animal shelter where she is now located reported that the dog will likely make a full recovery.

Two men found the puppy trapped in trash bags with three large rocks. She was reportedly dumped in the half-frozen creek and found wet and freezing. Chapel had somehow managed to wiggle her head out of the bags and above water.

The men took her to Scott County Animal Shelter in Georgetown where she was immediately rushed to the vet.

Later, the shelter announced on Facebook that Chapel, likely an Australian Shepard or Border Collie, had a congenital defect of her eyes, but an overall good prognosis.

She will be monitored for roughly a week, and is not available for adoption or fostering.

The Scott County Animal Shelter asked that if anyone has information about how the puppy became trapped to call 502-863-7897.
