Covington police say they’re investigating after a 9-month-old baby had to be revived using Narcan on Sunday night.

The child was brought to a Covington fire department where police responded.

A police report says when they arrived, CPR was being administered and the child was given the opioid overdose reversal drug at the hospital.

The Commonwealth’s Attorney for Kenton County, Rob Sanders, confirmed the investigation is ongoing Monday.

Covington Police Chief Robert Nader also confirmed the investigation and said he is unsure if criminal charges will be sought.

Assistant Police Chief Lt. Col. Brian Steffen says it will be about two or three days until they know more about what happened.

He says police are trying to figure out what was in the baby’s system and the last he heard, the child was still at the hospital.

Steffen says this was all the information he knew and could release at this time.
