Police are looking for a many who ran down an embankment and jumped into the Mill Creek near a bridge on Mill Creek Road during a pursuit Sunday evening.

A previous version of this story stated the suspect jumped off the Mille Creek Road bridge.

Cincinnati and Springfield police are looking for a man they say jumped into the Mill Creek during a pursuit of ATVs Sunday evening, according to media partner Fox19.

It is unclear if the man went under the water or got away.

"Once the guy went into the water, he didn't see what direction he went," said Lt. Brian Uhl of Springfield Township Police Department.

Cincinnati Fire and EMS tweeted that they were called to a report of a drowning near 3300 Millcreek Road near the Cincinnati Fire Training Center.

The man was last spotted by an officer going into the water after fleeing on foot down an embankment to the water off Mill Creek Road, Uhl said. The wooded embankment where the man went into the water is near a bridge over Mill Creek.

The slow-speed pursuit started after four ATVs and a dirt bike were seen popping wheelies and crossing over the double yellow line for opposing traffic at 5:22 p.m. on North Bend Road at Daly Road, according to a Springfield Township police report.

They did not stop for police lights and sirens.

Police followed the ATVs and dirt bike down Winton Road to Spring Grove Avenue, Uhl said. Police were about to give up on finding the ATV riders when one man was spotted jumping off a white ATV and going into the woods on Mill Creek Road, he said.

No one was captured.

The man who went into the water is said to be wearing all black clothing and a pair of goggles. Police believe they know the identity of the man and are pursuing a misdemeanor charge of failure to comply if he is found, Uhl said.
