An off-duty Cleveland Police Officer has been charged with attempted kidnapping and multiple sexual offenses involving a 12-year-old girl, prosecutors said.

Solomon Nhiwatiwa, 34, was indicted Wednesday after he tried to kidnap a child waiting for a school bus, then filmed himself urinating on the child, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office.

The incident occurred Aug. 16. in the city of Euclid.

Nhiwatiwa drove by the girl while she was waiting for the school bus, he had his windows rolled down and "attempted to engage in conversation and asked if she needed a ride to school," according to court records

After she refused his offer and he drove away, prosecutors said.

"The defendant returned approximately a minute later, parked his vehicle, approached the victim, exposed his genitals and began urinating on the victim while it appeared he was filming himself with his cellphone," prosecutors said.

Then Nhiwatiwa walked back to his car and drove away.

“These actions are impossible to comprehend. My office will hold him accountable and ensure that he never holds the position of police officer again," Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said.

Cleveland.com reported Nhiwatiwa was suspended without pay until the case is concluded. He was hired as a police officer in 2014.

Nhiwatiwa turned himself in on Tuesday. He has been charged with assault, public indecency, endangering children, attempted kidnapping with sexual motivation specification and four other charges.
