Coronavirus in Kentucky: 9 new deaths, 283 new cases
Update, 5:30 p.m.: Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced 283 new cases of the novel coronavirus and nine new deaths, on Friday.
None of the deaths announced were from Northern Kentucky. There are now 418 total deaths due to the virus in the commonwealth.
Friday's announced totals bring the total cases of 9,464 with 499 people currently hospitalized and 81 people in an intensive care unit.
The governor said the Friday numbers were higher than previous days, but cautioned trends should be measured over several days rather than one daily total.
New local cases according to the state:
- Kenton County: 17
- Boone County: 12
- Campbell County: 10
- Grant County: 2
