FORT MITCHELL - The Beechwood Tigers (10-2) easily handled the visiting Frankfort Panthers (9-3) 49-8 to win the Class 1A regional final.

The Tigers found the end zone on their first possession. Starting at their own 35-yard line, running back Logan Castleman ran untouched for the 65-yard touchdown. Beechwood’s special teams applied pressure up the middle to cause Frankfort’s quarterback John Tillman to fumble on a fake punt, recovered by Beechwood.

Two plays later quarterback Cameron Hergott hooked up with fullback, Tyler Donoho on a 31-yard swing pass. Beechwood ended up scoring their next three possessions, two of those were by Castleman. In all Beechwood scored hung 28 points on the Panthers just in the first quarter. It would seem like a long night for Frankfort as they were outmanned when comparing the depth of two teams.

Frankfort finally found the end-zone with 23 seconds left in the second quarter on a 13-yard connection from Tillman to Dajaun Davis on a slant pass, 35-8 Beechwood.

The Tigers came out with an aggressive attack in all three phases of the game. The Tiger defense sacked the Tillman nine times and picked off him off twice. The offense gained over 452 yards of total offense, and the specials teams gave the offense great field position.

“I like the way we are playing football as far as how aggressive we are playing," Beechwood coach Noel Rash said.

The Tigers took advantage of the Panthers, with most of the team playing two ways. With a big lead going into the fourth quarter, Beechwood kept grinding out first downs. The final in the coffin came in the fourth with 9:25 left, when Castleman made cut to the left and gashed Frankfort’s defense for the 62-yard score. Castleman led the teams with 258 yards rushing on 23 carries, scoring five touchdowns, seemed to have his way behind some good blocking by his offensive line.

“My coach said to just hit the holes and follow my offensive, and that’s what I did," Castleman said.
