Man crashes Jeep into curb after he was blinded by morning sun

A man was reported uninjured Wednesday morning after he crashed his vehicle into a curb in west-central Topeka.

The crash was reported at 8:17 a.m. near S.W. 10th Avenue and Jewell.

Police Officer Aaron Bulmer said at the scene that a Jeep Liberty was headed east on S.W. 10th when the vehicle ran into a curb on the south side of the street.

The man driving the Jeep told police that the sun had blinded him just before he hit the curb.

The driver was able to pull the Jeep onto the 1000 block of S.W. Jewell, where it came to a stop with damage to its right -front wheel area.

First responders were called to the scene to check on the driver, but he refused medical treatment.

A tow truck from AAA had arrived on the scene by 8:55 a.m. to move the disabled vehicle from the scene.
