Police ID man arrested after standoff

Topeka police on Wednesday morning identified a man who was taken into custody Tuesday night after a standoff that lasted several hours in the 700 block of S.W. College.

The man was identified as Bobby Dee Slocum, 32.

Police officials said Slocum, who was being sought in connection with a felony arrest warrant, was taken into custody after he barricaded himself in a residence.

Authorities said they were able to get a woman and three children out of the house safely.

Slocum was booked into the Shawnee County Jail in connection with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated intimidation of a witness, aggravated endangerment of a child, interference with a law enforcement officer and the felony arrest warrant.

The incident lasted for about three hours Tuesday night.
