Topeka police: Registered violent offender found in possession of handgun, marijuana

Topeka police arrested a man Saturday after he was found to be in possession of a handgun and marijuana.

Lamar Moss, 40, was arrested in connection with felon in possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana.

Officers stopped a vehicle about 3:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of S.E. 37th Street for expired registration, according to Lt. Robbie Simmons.

Moss, who was a passenger in the car, was found to have a handgun and marijuana.

Simmons said Moss is a registered violent offender for second-degree murder.

According to state corrections records, Moss was convicted of second-degree murder in 2003 in Shawnee County. He was released from prison in August 2017.
