A chase Saturday in Topeka led Shawnee County sheriff deputies to discover a Topeka woman in possession of counterfeit money, Social Security cards and a credit card reader machine.

Deputies arrested Lauren Ortiz, 29, in connection with possession of a stolen vehicle, flee and elude, driving while suspended, possession of counterfeit money and traffic violations.

Anterio Deshazer, a passenger in the vehicle, was questioned and released, according to a news release from Cpt. Danny Lotridge.

The chase occurred when a deputy saw a Jeep Liberty speeding and traveling east on N.W. 35th from N.W. Button Road.

Lotridge said the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but it turned south on N.W. Dawdy Drive and sped up.

The vehicle hit an occupied vehicle at N.W. 33rd Place and Dawdy Drive.

The occupants of the hit vehicle were not injured, Lotridge said.

Deputies also found Ortiz to be in possession of several fraudulent IDs.

Ortiz and Deshazer were taken into custody without incident.
