A 41-year-old man is accused of killing a teenager on Easter Sunday, according to the Jackson Police Department.

Just after 8 p.m. Sunday, a 14-year-old, identified by the Hinds County coroner as Rodrick Johnson, was shot and killed on Eminence Road, near Revels Avenue.

Later, there was a brief standoff at a home on Bishop Avenue, near Eminence Row, according to a tweet from JPD.

Stacy Lidell was taken into custody and charged with murder, police said.

The shooting happened soon after an alleged theft that took place on Lidell's property, according to police.

Nothing indicates there was a prior relationship between the victim and suspect, said Jackson Sgt. Roderick Holmes.
