Mississippi news you may have missed: Two teens died in Jackson area over the weekend

The Jackson Police Department is investigating two deaths that occurred over the weekend and in Hinds County, a girl who fell from a moving vehicle dies days later.

Early Saturday morning, JPD said on Twitter that officers responded to a fatal hit-and-run. A 21-year-old man was found in the 5400 block of Interstate 55 North Frontage Road near Briarwood Drive just after 2:33 a.m. JPD said the man was unresponsive and with injuries consistent with a collision. The is no information on the vehicle involved in the incident.

On Sunday evening 14-year-old Rodrick Johnson was shot and killed, JPD announced on Twitter. The incident happened around 8 p.m. on Eminence Row, near Revels Avenue. 

Later there was a brief standoff on Bishop Avenue, near Eminence Row. Stacy Lidell, 41, was taken into custody and charged with murder, police said.

Lexie Henderson, 16, who reportedly fell from a moving vehicle on Friday afternoon has died, the Hinds County Coroner's Office told WJTV.

The incident happened near Johnson Line and Trotter roads in northern Hinds County, said a news release from the Hinds County Sheriff's Office. The initial 911 call indicated that someone was injured on a four-wheeler. Witnesses said she fell from the trunk of a moving car, a white Nissan Altima, Major Pete Luke said. 

A teen was airlifted to a local hospital after she reportedly fell from a moving car in Hinds County, authorities say.

The girl was riding on top of the hood of the trunk, witnesses said, according to Luke. When she fell she sustained a "pretty bad head injury," he said.

Henderson was airlifted to an area hospital where she died Sunday.
