Mississippi educator fired over protest comment on social media

POPLARVILLE, Miss. – An instructor at a Mississippi community college is no longer employed by the school after comments generated complaints.

Media outlets report that the comments on social media were made during recent demonstrations over police abuses.

Pearl River Community College President Adam Breerwood outlined the decision in a letter posted on the school’s social media accounts.

Breerwood wrote that he received hundreds of comments about the messages. He said they do not reflect the values of the school.

Beerwood did not identify the instructor or provide details of the messages.
