Jackson police are searching a suspect and a motive in a Saturday afternoon shooting death of a man who was washing his vehicle.

Byron Jones, 26, was shot multiple times on Northside Drive near State Street. He died at a local hospital, according to the Jackson Police Department. The shooting occurred about 4:30 p.m.

JPD spokesman Sam Brown said police are interviewing witnesses, but don't have a motive or suspect yet.

The death marks the city's 64 homicide since the year began.
