Woman killed in altercation inside Jackson home, JPD says
Wilton JacksonJackson police are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead Thursday afternoon in south Jackson.
According to Jackson Police Department, the shooting took place around 3:30 p.m. inside a home on the 1700 block of Shady Lane Drive.
Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart identified the woman as 22-year-old Illyannaii Dawson, who suffered a gunshot wound to her upper body. Dawson died on the scene.
Witnesses to the shooting said Dawson has been involved in an altercation prior to shots being fired, according to police. Two people were detained for questioning in the investigation.
Authorities are still conducting interviews with the two people who were detained to find out what led to the shooting. No arrests have been made.
