Former Ole Miss and Texas quarterback Jevan Snead died in Austin this weekend, according to a report by the Austin American-Statesman.

The Austin Police Department did not release much information on Snead's death, but Brian Davis and Tony Plohetski of the Statesman confirmed the news with multiple officials and with a family member of Snead's. The report states foul play is not suspected in the death, which occurred downtown.

Snead, 32, had been working in Austin as a managing consultant at WeWork Space Services since April, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Snead, a Texas native, started his collegiate career as a Texas Longhorn in 2006. After losing the starting job to Colt McCoy that year, Snead transferred to Ole Miss. He sat out the 2007 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Snead played in 26 games as an Ole Miss Rebel. He was the team's starter in 2008-09. He threw for 5,394 yards, 46 touchdowns and 33 interceptions during his two years in Oxford en route to leading the Rebels to a pair of Cotton Bowl victories over Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.

Snead's total passing yards rank eighth in school history. His passing touchdown total ranks fourth. Only Eli Manning, Bo Wallace and Chad Kelly have passed for more touchdowns in a Rebel uniform. Snead's 26 passing touchdowns in 2008 rank fourth on the single-season list. Manning had 31 in 2001 and 29 in 2003. Kelly had 31 in 2015.

On Sunday night, Ole Miss athletics posted a tweet sending out thoughts and prayers for Snead and his family and friends.

Snead earned a marketing degree from Ole Miss and skipped his senior season to enter the NFL Draft. He went undrafted but was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for training camp. He was cut before the 2010 season started.
