STARKVILLE – Mississippi State’s recruiting class of 2021 got bigger this week.

Six-foot-5, 292-pound offensive lineman Gabe Cavazos of Lake Cormorant High School announced his commitment to coach Mike Leach and the Bulldogs on Twitter Wednesday morning.

“First I would like to thank God, my family, coaches, teammates and friends for helping me make it to this day and supporting me the whole ride,” Cavazos said in his Tweet. “Without you guys I would not be in the position that I am in today. With that being said, I will be committing to Mississippi State University. #HailState.”

Cavazos had offers from Arkansas State, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State and South Alabama. He is the second offensive lineman from the class of 2021 to commit to MSU, joining Makylan Pounders of Byhalia. Pounders was recently announced as a 2020 Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen.

Cavazos is the third player to commit to Mississippi State in the last week. Four-star wide receiver Malik Nabers and defensive end Tre’Von Marshall of Stockbridge, Georgia, committed last week.

According to 247Sports Composite Rankings, Mississippi State ranks No. 11 in the SEC and No. 43 nationally with its 14 verbal commits in the class of 2021.
