OXFORD — A former Ole Miss defensive coach is rejoining the Rebels staff.

Former Ole Miss defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix will rejoin the Ole Miss coaching staff this season, per a release from Virginia Tech. Nix worked at Virginia Tech as a safeties coach in 2018, but spent four years from 2008-11 as Ole Miss' defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

Nix's Ole Miss defenses ranked near the top of the SEC in 2008 and 2009 but cratered to last in the conference by points allowed in 2010 and 2011. In four years with Nix on staff, Ole Miss finished with a 24-23 record and two bowl appearances.
