Man steals several air conditioners from Aldi’s: Fairview Park Police Blotter

FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio

Petty theft, Center Ridge Road

On June 12, a man stole several air conditioners from Aldi’s. The manager told officers that the man has been stealing from all of the Aldi’s stores in the area and they have been on the lookout for him.

The man has been seen in an older brown van, and one of the employees saw it in the lot and alerted officers. By the time officers got out there, the van was gone.

Officers reviewed video footage. The man is seen on video loading two air conditioners into a cart and leaving without paying. He then returns and takes two more. A short time later, the van is seen leaving the lot. A woman is also pictured in the video acting as a lookout.

Theft, Lorain Road

On June 13, a man visiting his brother reported that someone had stolen the rear license plate from his car. He said he had parked the car to the rear of his brother’s apartment building, and when he took the car for service, the mechanic noticed the plate missing.

Disturbance, Lorain Road

On July 15, a noise disturbance was reported and the caller also said people may be smoking marijuana. When officers arrived, all was quiet and the apartment resident said the party was over and it would remain quiet.

A short time later, a second report of noise was received. Officers cited the resident for disorderly conduct.

Burglary, Lorain Road

On June 17, an apartment tenant reported that someone had broken into the rental office by kicking in the door. The tenant gave a description of the suspects and of a car they were near.

Officers stopped the car in the driveway of the complex with four occupants inside.

Pry marks were found on the entry door to one of the buildings. The rental office was broken into and it appeared an attempt had been made to break into the safe. Pry marks were also found where a cash exchange machine hung outside the laundry room.

All four suspects were arrested for burglary. A search of the car found the tools used in the forcible entry of the site, as well as a sawed-off shotgun in the trunk. The suspects ranged in age from 18 to 30. Two are from Cincinnati and two are from Indianapolis.
