Resident reports van missing, spare key left inside: Fairview Park Police Blotter

FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio

Attempt fraud, North Park Drive

On June 25, a resident reported an attempted fraud. Last September, someone had withdrawn a couple thousand dollars from his account to open another one. His bank caught it, asked if he had authorized it, and were able to cancel the transaction when he said he had not.

Now, the resident is getting repeated calls from a foreign-sounding individual claiming to be from the other bank, saying he owes the amount of the original transaction.

Theft, West 213th Street

On June 27, a resident reported that his Honda Odyssey van had been stolen out of his driveway. He had parked it around 10:30 p.m. the previous night, and the next morning discovered it missing.

He believes he locked the van, although no broken glass was found in the driveway. A spare key was in the console and may have been used in the theft. Officers checked the License Plate Reader database, which showed that the van had left the city around 4:36 a.m.

Warrant, Lorain Road

Two officers noticed a man and a woman arguing. The officers approached after watching the man grab the woman. The man was highly intoxicated.

According to the woman -- his sister -- she had driven him up to take care of some warrants and he changed his mind and did not want to turn himself in. He had warrants for his arrest from Fairview Park, Trumbull County and Cleveland Metroparks Police. The 36-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested.
