FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio -- The award-winning Fairview Park City Schools #FairviewFirstDay back-to-school slideshow returns next month.
After a longer than normal summer break, due to school construction projects, parents are encouraged to print #FairviewFirstDay signs and celebrate their students as they start the 2019-2020 school year on Sept. 5.
The district asks for photos of students on their first day of school holding printable #FairviewFirstDay signs highlighting their grades. The same day, parents are asked to email the pictures, which will be used as part of a back-to-school slideshow shared on the district website and social media.
“The first day of school is such a fun and memorable occasion,” Superintendent Bill Wagner said. “The Fairview Park City Schools’ #FairviewFirstDay signs add to the excitement as families are already photographing and documenting the first day of school.
“It’s also fun to see our staff share photos using the signs in their classrooms and around the school buildings.”
Fairview Park City Schools Communications and Marketing Coordinator Amanda Lloyd said the campaign concept won a 2017 Mark of Distinction award from the Ohio School Public Relations Association.
“This is the fourth year for the #FairviewFirstDay back-to-school printable signs,” Lloyd said. “I design a template for each grade level, post on the website and parents download and print.”
Lloyd, who noted that the district also does a #FairviewLastDay campaign in the spring, said she got the idea after seeing parents sharing first-day-of-school photos on social media.
“I decided to make custom ones with the Fairview branding on them,” Lloyd said. “This year features a new design with the new mascot.
“Since this will be our fourth year of the #FairviewFirstDay printables, families have come to look forward to this tradition. It’s a fun way to document memories and watch students grow over the years."
