Medina County students excel in college

MEDINA, Ohio -- Here’s the latest news on college students from Medina County:

Cuyahoga Community College: A herd of 33 Triceratops earned All-Academic honors and were recognized by the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference for their classroom success during fall semester.

To gain All-Academic status, students needed at least a 3.3 GPA while completing 12 or more credit hours during the semester.

Among the student athletes was Caitlin Dunlap of Medina, who is on the softball team.

Baldwin Wallace University: Brian Pattison of Medina was part of the cast and crew from Baldwin Wallace University that, under the direction of Victoria Bussert, produced the academic premiere of "Kinky Boots," winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Pattison, a graduate of Medina High School majoring in instrumental performance, played trombone in the co-production between the BW Conservatory of Music's music theatre program and the department of theatre and dance. BW was granted the rights to stage "Kinky Boots" through support from faculty and alumni, including music theatre graduate Kyle Post, a longtime member of the Broadway cast.

Hannah Stein of Medina, a graduate of Highland High School, is one of three Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse student-athletes to be named as a team captain for the 2020 season.

Nick Nanosky of Medina, a graduate of Medina High School, is one of three Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse student-athletes to be named as a team captain for the 2020 season. Nanosky, a two-year letter winner and lone junior captain, has appeared in 29 career games, scoring 23 goals and 18 assists for 41 points. Last season, Nanosky was fourth on team with a career-best 13 assists, and also added career-highs of 16 goals, 31 points, 16 ground balls, and seven caused turnovers. Off the field, he is a pre-physical therapy major and Dean's List student.

Cedarville University: Carly Sternberg and Aubrie Horton of Medina were named to the Cedarville University Dean's Honor List for the fall 2019

Bucknell University: Evan Filion, an Environmental Geosciences major in the class of 2020, from Medina, was named to the dean's list at Bucknell University during the fall semester of the 2019-20 academic year.

Ohio Wesleyan University: Ohio Wesleyan University is pleased to announce its 2019 fall semester Dean's List. Local students include Jayson Blankenship Audrey Calvin and Maia Virgei of Medina and Avery Finding of Hinckley.

Trine University: Trevor Ransbury of Medina, a student on Trine University’s main campus, was named to the President’s List for the Fall 2019 term. Ransbury is majoring in mechanical engineering.
