Man cuts in line, then punches fellow Circle K customer: Fairview Park Police Blotter

FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio

Assault: Lorain Road

On May 24, a man at Circle K told officers that he was in line to purchase drinks for his family when another man cut in line. He confronted the other man about it, and words were exchanged.

The man proceeded with his purchase, walked out with drinks in hand, and was verbally accosted by the other man. The victim continued walking forward toward his car, where his wife and child were waiting. That’s when the other man punched him in the face.

The aggressor claimed that he thought the victim was going to attack him as he was walking to the car, so he struck him with an open hand.

An independent witness said the man struck the victim “out of the blue,” knocking the drinks out of his hands while doing so. Statements were taken from both parties and the witnesses, and officers are awaiting video footage of the incident, with possible assault charges pending.

Criminal damaging: Lorain Road

On May 20, an apartment resident reported damage to her car. She told officers that she had parked the car in her lot around 10:30 a.m., ran into the apartment, and, upon coming back about 15 minutes later, found that her car had been keyed. The damage was on the passenger side of the car.

A second resident also reported his car keyed later that day. He believes his damage occurred on May 17.

Intoxication: West 226th Street

On May 21, officers responded to a report of a man passed out in the grass in front of a residence. After the man awoke, he was belligerent, had slurred speech and had difficulty standing.

While the paramedics were checking him, they noticed a strong odor of natural gas coming from inside the man’s house. The meter showed a significant leak, but a source couldn’t be determined. They turned off the gas at the meter and called the gas company.

The man was acting unusual and the paramedics decided he needed to be checked at the hospital. An officer had to ride with them, as the man was yelling profanities and getting out of control. The officer could smell alcohol on the man’s breath.

The 29-year-old was cited. After being released from the hospital, he called the police department four times in drunken rants, upset that he had been taken to the hospital.

Theft: Westgate

On May 23, a woman reported that her car had been entered while she was shopping at Marshall’s. She went out to check on her dog, which had been ill. She walked it around the parking lot, returned it to the car, and continued shopping.

On the way home, she noticed that her purse and a small duffel bag were missing from the car, where she had left them while walking the dog around the lot.
