MEDINA, Ohio -- Despite the unusual circumstance of the past spring semester, Medina County students are thriving in their college studies. Here are some of the honors achieved by area students.
University of Findlay: Local students are among those completing summer internships. Local students include: Madison Busse, of Valley City, is an intern at the Flint Hill Farm Educational Center in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. Busse is pursuing a degree in animal science.
Haley Ganger, of Brunswick, is an intern at Toro Family Dog Boarding in Brunswick. Ganger is pursuing a degree in animal science.
Youngstown State University: Local students named to Youngstown State University President's List for earning perfect 4.0 grade point averages, include Logan Gerig, Biology major from Medina; Margaux Thompson, Exercise Science major from Valley City; Danielle Trybala, Theatre Studies major from Hinckley and Brunswick residents, Jarrod Kaminski, Telecommunication Studies Sports Broadcast Track major; Riley Papa, Criminal Justice major; McKenzie Price, Criminal Justice major and Austin Ward, Hospitality Management major,
Local students who were named to the Dean’s List for spring semester at Youngstown State include Medina residents: Jacob Peterson, Accounting major; Jeanette Goodman, Allied Health major; Carrington Lisser, Art Education major; Carla Relitz, Business Administration major and David Brill, Nursing RN to BSN major.
Also, Brunswick resident Autumn Corsi, Allied Health major; and Hinckley resident Nathan Espenschied, STEM First Year Engineering major.
University of South Carolina, Aiken: Robert Jenkins of Hinckley, was named to the University of South Carolina Aiken Dean's List for Spring 2020. Jenkins's major is Exercise and Sports Science.
Southeast Missouri State University: Bri Caccavale of Medina, OH, is among Southeast Missouri State University's spring 2020 graduates. Caccavale graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in finance.
Miami University: Miami University, Oxford OH, awarded degrees to students during virtual spring commencement experience May 16 and 17.
Students from Medina include: Austin Alvarez, Brian Fotheringham, Kyle Gottschalk, Megan Hascher, Brett Helsel, Spencer Kaufman, Kyle Kofsky, Taylor Lentz, Hunter Meacham, Andy Newman, Thomas Ruth, Gabrielle Schnaterbeck, Mary Spelic,Chelli St. Clair and Ben West.
Local graduates from Brunswick include: Michael Battaglia, Mike Crow, Gabrielle Maslowski, Blaise Rogers and Amber Stacho.
Hinckley area graduates are Christian Kamm, Macie Petrich, Austin Kizys and Jordyn Zahoransky as well as Austyn Larkin of Valley City.
Hofstra University: Alexander Dudley of Medina, excelled during the Spring 2020 semester, achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the Dean’s List.
