Akron teen arrested after stabbing man who was attacking his mother, police say

AKRON, Ohio – A 15-year-old boy and a 45-year-old man were arrested Friday after a domestic fight at an Akron home, according to police.

Officers responded around 5 p.m. Friday to a home on the 1100 block of Lakeshore Boulevard in Akron’s Summit Lake neighborhood, according to a police report.

A 35-year-old woman reported that the father of her one-year-old child came to the residence, struck her in the face, choked her and tackled her to the ground.

The woman’s teenage son then grabbed a knife and stabbed the man in the back, police said. The man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the boy.

Paramedics brought the man, later identified at Christopher Curry, 45, of Akron, to Cleveland Clinic Akron General with non-critical injuries, police said.

The teen is charged with felonious assault and Curry faces a first-degree misdemeanor charge of domestic violence, Akron Municipal Court records show.
