Drive-by shooting wounds teen in Akron, police say

AKRON, Ohio — An 18-year-old male sitting in his vehicle was wounded after a suspect in another vehicle opened fire, police say.

The shooting occurred Monday afternoon at the intersection of Fuller Street and Second Avenue, according to police.

The male was in his vehicle at the intersection and was about to make a turn when the unknown suspect began firing.

The victim was hit in the left ankle and several bullets hit the vehicle, police say. A 16-year-old girl in the victim’s car was not injured.

The male drove himself to Summa Akron City Hospital for treatment. His wounds are not life-threatening, police say.
